ROGER'S EXPERIENCE


 

Healthcare and Health Insurance

 

I have advised managed care organizations and was the CIO of a commercial health insurance company (Fortis Health.)  I have assisted in the selection of Third Party Claims administrators, helped apply for authorization to operate Medicare Part “C” and “D” plans, oversaw the creation of a new health underwriting system, and performed systems consolidations which yielded substantial cost savings and won industry awards.

 

Manufacturing

 

I have been the senior IT executive and CIO for Fortune 500 and privately owned manufacturing companies including IBP and Bunge Corporation.  My experience includes both job shop and continuous process manufacturing plants.  I have worked for both branded and commodity organizations.  Manufacturing environments that I have supported included highly clean (food processing) to chemical manufacturing.  In my early years I worked as a Plant Engineer for Eastman Kodak.

 

Banking

 

I was the strategic IT architect and VP – Emerging Technology for Banker’s Trust Corporation.  My experience includes financial instrument trading and introduction of new technologies such as optical storage and artificial intelligence.

 

Public Accounting

 

I spent five years as a Manager in Advisory Services for Ernst and Ernst.  In addition to my role leading consulting teams I was also responsible for coordination and execution of the IT general controls and application controls reviews for all of the clients of the New York office.

 

Government

 

During my career in the Navy Reserve I spent many years at the Pentagon and regional staffs.  I was assigned responsibility for Information Technology in many of these positions.  In addition, my health care experience has led to numerous interactions with both Federal and State Health and Human Services agency personnel and systems.

 

New Ventures

 

In addition to starting my own consulting organization I have been a principal in two startups.  I have experience with raising venture capital for funding new organizations.

 

Information Technology

 

Like many in the Information Technology industry I got my start as a programmer/analyst and a computer operator.  I have held every position in an information technology department including: systems programmer, business analyst, project leader, project manager, department head, and CIO.

Captain, U.S. Navy Reserve (retired), Reserve assignments included Commanding Officer and Executive Officer assignments and tours as senior staff with the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Chief of Naval Operations, shore support and combatant commands.

TECHNICAL BACKGROUND
